Thanks everyone! I will try heating up half my milk to 185-190 and adding the remaining milk.
For this batch I strained the heck our of it and it is now haught taughty "Greek" yogurt :lol:
Tastes fine and I prefer the thicker texture. Hubby doesn't mind either.

I have tried to make yogurt using raw milk twice now ( no powdered milk to thicken it) and both times I have had it not turn into yogurt...it looks more like thick milk. What is going on? I used ogranic store baught yogurt as a starter. It claims to have 6 types of bacteria. So why is it not...

As stated before too, if we keep spreading our message we maybe able to turn the tide. The sqeaky wheel gets the oil. I am working on educating people (family & friends) about raw milk, real foods and trying to expose the gross truth about processed foods. The BIG battle will be those lobbiests...
I agree, I was impressed with his operation/farm and his book. I think though the best thing we women can do is create a farm that thrives just like his and only allow women. Prove 'em wrong...men that is.or at least prove that we are able to do the same even more things as men. I wish I had...
I agree. A lot of the store lard is hydrogenated. I found a local Butcher that actually gets their lard in from a little lady that renders it the old fashioned way. It is woth it not having hydrogentated oils. If you buy that fat then you can render it yourself!
I have worked very hard to be as ss as I can. I have a dh that supports me and is having fun with our adventures and a daughter that is young enough to not know the differnce...well McD's was hardest for her to give up.

I just got done with processing 2 bushels of tomatoes..thats approx. 110lbs! Spaghetti sauce, pizza sauce, and canned tomatoes for cooking with. I am thinking about getting somemore corn!
The last two days I have canned 9 quarts and 1/2 pint spaghetii sauce and 10 -1/2 pints of pizza sauce. I have to do some apple butter and another batch of watermelon rind pickles tomorrow.
